Visual Web Developer 2005 Express and FP 2003

Hi,

I recently downloaded and installed the newly released Visual Web Developer
2005 Express and plan to use it along with FP 2003.

However, I was wondering if there will be any averse effects if using the
two on the same FP-based site?

That means to open up and edit the site, sometime using FP 2003 or VWD 2005
Express.

I found VWD 2005 Express seems to be more powerful (although I am just
starting to using it) on database and other programming tasks while FP 2003
is much easier for HTML pages and simpler site management.

Also, when I use VWD 2005 Express to open up the site and close it, it
prompts me to save a site's ".sln"

If I save it, will it change any site configuration or settings?

I read a few articles about .sln but still have no idea about how would it
affect the web site and all pages in it?

Many thanks in advance.

Yes, you can use both programs on the same site, and for just the purposes
you've outlined. FrontPage is best at doing HTML and web management, and VWD
is best for doing ASP.Net.

The .sln file is used only by VWD to maintain programming metadata about the
solution, and will not affect either the web site, nor FrontPage.

Hi,

Many thanks for your kind explanations.

I am more comfortable now for using the two programs at the same time, and
perhaps using VWD Express to enhance my programming skills.

Thanks again.
