W-97 "Revert to saved error"

L

Larry

The knowledge base tells how to prevent this error from
happening again by changing the registry. BUT, if you
click on "OK" to revert to saved, and the file is on
disc, where does the file/data go? I don't need to stop
this from happening, I need to find the file and use it.
Using XP with Office 97.

Hi Larry,

If you are trying to recover a file after selecting OK when you were
asked if you wanted to revert to the previously saved version and
saved/closed it then there is no data to be found - all of your
modifications were discarded and the file was loaded back into memory
using the previously saved copy.

Which KB article are you referring to?

If you are referring to Q200915 then this doesn't result in a data
loss. The file name is represented twice in the registered file type
so your operating system is attempting to open the file twice. In
reality the second copy is identical to the first one that was opened.
