wait deploying service pack - security impact

We ran in to problems with our in house developed software application after
installing Office 2007 SP2 at our office. Now we've reverted back again to
SP1, but wondering what the security implications are.

Can anyone tell me if there is a (and what is the) risk in NOT installing
SP2 in the next 8 months? Will all new security updates that Microsoft
releases still install on Office 2007 SP1
