walls stop cleaning up

I've had this in the past, finally got to the point where its qite troubling.
All of a sudden, within an esxiting documetn consisting of architectural
plans etc., when adding walls, door, etc., they stop "cleaning" up. I can
add a new page, samp problem. Start a new file, I'm back in business. Any
suggestions?
