want to add rectangle--get drawing object

Hi--Word is driving me crazy :) !

I have a text box, and I would like to add a double border around it. I
tried to do this with the rectangle shape. When I click the Rectangle icon on
the Drawing toolbar, I get a giant box that says "Create your drawing here".
That would be fine, except then I end up with a line under my double-bordered
text box that I don't want.

Any idea how I can get rid of that line at the bottom of the drawing object?
Why does this drawing object come up in the first place (I think I've used
shapes before and not had this problem...)

Thank you!

You can disable the drawing canvas on the General tab of Tools | Options,
but you don't need to draw a rectangle to get a border on your text box.
Just use Format Text Box and select the desired type of line border on the
Colors and Lines tab.
