While putting an excel workbook as a linked document on a web page will enable
folks to download and work on it, working on it 'interactively through their
browser on a website can depend on a variety of factors, including the version
of Excel and browser they use on their computers, or if you're using a MS Office
sharepoint site to host the documents/worksheets.
You may want to use the link below to followup in the MS Excel discussion group
on this one and include some additional details on the version of Excel you're
using and if you're planning on having folks make changes that others will then
see on a copy of the worksheet.
