Hi Leddell,
When you use a Word 2003 and 2007 version the MS Installer sets a variety of pointers (registry entries) to match the version 'in
play'. Outlook 2007 uses its own 'Word 2007 clone' rather than Word itself as the email editor as well, so yes, trying to mix and
match you will likely see the installer configuration dialog and a delay in those scenarios. If you're using Outlook 2003 and
invoke Word as the email editor for that version it will be looking for a matching version of Word.
While the Office versions can exist together, MS has always recommended against doing it (which is sort of a catch 22 with the trial
edition when you haven't decided which version will be your new 'usual' one).
===========
I could not use my Outlook with Word 2003 as it stated it could not find Word
2003 so I opened Word 2003 and it said it must be installed to put in my
Office 2003 disk. I did this an it reinstalled Word 2003 Then Outlook
worked. When I tried Word 2007 I got this configureing Word 2007 screen
which took several minuted to finish before 2007 would load. Then I could
not use Outlook 2003 again. I opened Word 2003 and then Outlook and it
worked. then tried Word 2007 and then back to the configuring screen again.
So it does work but who has the time. There has to be a problem with Word as
every other program works in both 2003 and 2007.
