if your knowledge of Access is very limited, then you may very well not have
the skill set necessary to handle the task, at this time. Access has a
fairly steep learning curve, and it takes a serious investment of time and
effort to learn to build a solid database with an efficient and
user-friendly interface.

if your "big guy" is willing to give you that time (and we're talking weeks
to months, depending on the size and complexity of the project - certainly
not hours to days), then suggest you bookmark the following website
http://home.bendbroadband.com/conradsystems/accessjunkie/resources.html
which has an excellent list of resource for many things Access, and use
these newsgroups both as a searchable resource for help on specific issues,
as well as a free peer-to-peer forum to get help with your own specific
questions as you work on the project.

if you're not in a position to invest the time necessary, suggest you
consider recommending that your boss hire a contractor to do the work. you
can google to find sites where you can connect with same.
