Warning in Office 97

[bro]

I copied a number of documents to a new computer. When I
double click on the document icon, it opens, but I
receive the following warning:

"C:[document name] is being used by [user name]. Do you
want to make a copy?"

Whether I click "yes" or "cancel", the document still
opens fine. How can I keep the warning from appearing?

Try recreating the file associations for Word. Go to Start/Run and
run:

winword /r

Note the space before the forward slash.
