I have spent over two days of pain troubleshooting
Outlook only to find out McAfee added a "Worm Stopper"
program to my VirusScan that prevented me from accessing
POP or SMTP servers. I have now uninstalled McAfee and
my Outlook has returned to normal! You will see a
0800x4cccA or similar error that says you cannot get a
response from the mail server. My search revealed
several people with this problem, but no solution.
McAfee should step up to the plate and post something on
their home page. They have a solution. You uninstall
the VirusScan and then reinstall and disable the Work
Stopper before starting Outlook. I have not been brave
enough to try it yet. Let me know if someone succeeds.
