Was Web Page created with FP

Hi:
Is it possible to tell if a web page was created with front page.
If so please suggest how.

Thanks
TK

Look at the code -

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1252">
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

This is often a hallmark of FP pages,

<meta name="Microsoft Theme" content="blends 1011">
--------------------^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

This is a guarantee that it's a FP page, as are these -

<meta name="GENERATOR" content="Microsoft FrontPage 6.0">
<meta name="ProgId" content="FrontPage.Editor.Document">

These javascript functions are a good indicator -

function FP_setLayerText
-----------^^^

And anytime you see 'webbot' in comments, that's a dead give away.

Why?

...but, many people delete those references.

Some of them, yes.

The FP_function calls are much less often jiggered in my experience.

Because. Why is it necessary?

I always thought it was some kind of throw back to when people beat their
chests over making webs with a text editor and lampooned people who used
WYSIWYG tools.

Thanks:

But could we get back to my question?

It’s more of a bet thing,

I looked at a site a friend ask me to look at and responded that
it looked like a FP site or one that could be created with FP.
I just started looking at or trying to use FP.

I can see no reason for me to waste my time given that
I have no talent or expertise in either FP or web design
to answer my own question with the answers given.

Here is the site, it is obvious there are add ins and automated
software, maybe not, that is why I posted the question.

Please comment.

First, FP can be used to create any web site that any other HTML editor can be used to create!

Dreamweaver was most likely the HTML editor used to create this site, but the following doesn't
really make it so.

<!-- fwtable fwsrc="header.png" fwbase="header.jpg" fwstyle="Dreamweaver"

Thomas:

Thanks for that.

I have your site bookmarked but tonight it is loading very slow.
I offer that just for your consideration.

Thanks Again

Thanks, I am aware that there is a problem with my site.

This is a dead give away -

<html><!-- InstanceBegin template="Templates/page-template.dwt"
codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="false" -->

It's definitely a Dreamweaver built site.

A

Andrew Murray

look at the source.
look for the meta tag "Generator=Frontpage x.x" where x.x is the version.

A

Andrew Murray

such as the meta tags - there's an addin on Jimcoaddins.com what will delete
those.
