Watermark is too light in washout and too dark without washout

Is there a way of changing the intensity of color in a picture used for a
watermark?

Insert the watermark as usual. Click on View | Header and
Footer. Right-click once on the watermark, and left click on
Format Picture | Picture tab. The default watermark settings are
85% brightness and 15% contrast. Decrease the brightness and
increase the contrast until the picture is the intensity that you
prefer.
