watermark reverses print

Has anyone ever had a watermark (set at the printer - HP8150) cause the text of a document to become a mirror image of itself? This has happened to a couple of people here, but when they retried, it printed correctly. We're using Office 97 on Windows 2000. Couldn't find anything on this phenomenon on the HP site or in the MS knowledgebase.
