Watermark w/ unwanted black bar

We use Groupwise 6.0 and Office 2002 on Windows XP Pro. When a word
attachment is opened with Word 2002 SP3 from Groupwise with a watermark in
it, a black bar goes across the bottom of each page above the bottom margin
for about an inch and a half. It covers the text. If the watermark is
deselected both disappear. If the doc is saved the bar remains when the
watermark is active. Groupwise Quickview doesn't show the black bar. This
is only on one users machine and I have reinstalled Office and deleted
Normal.dot. What is wrong when all emailed docs with a watermark also have
this obscuring black bar?

This white paper doesn't fix the problem. The black bar isn't associated with
typing, but whether the watermark is on or off. The black bar only appears in
docs that have a watermark selected. It disappears if the watermark is
deselected. The black bar is at the bottom of the doc and covers existing
text. The rest of the doc is accessable for typing.

Did you check your display adapter settings, or simply ignore the advice as
it didn't appear relevant?
From your description this is almost certainly a display adapter issue.
