I downloaded a wav file and placed in my PP2003 presentation. When I emailed
it to someone the sound does not work, but it works on my PC

"Tools", "Options", "General" TAB. Set the file size to something greater
than your wav file and insert it again. This time it will be imbedded.
Just keep in mind that it will also increase the PowerPoint file size the
amount of the wav file (which might make e-mailing tougher to do).

Thanks. Does this also apply to MP3 files that I have downloaded and placed
into the presenation? Or will I have to email the MP3 file seaprately to
each person I want to send it to?

The short answer is that only WAV sounds can be embedded in PowerPoint
files so MP3 files will have to be mailed separately. The long answer cna
be at "Sounds/Movies don't play, images disappear or links break when I
move or email a presentation" from the PPT FAQ:
