Way around Task Name displaying 50 characters on My Tasks?

Good Morning -

I am trying to find a way around the fact that there is a 50 character limit
to displaying Task Name in the My Assignments (My Tasks) view. Could we make
a field that is something like "Task Name Long" that would = [task name]?
Then display the new field in the My Assignments view?

Anyone have a good work around for this?

Stacey - There is a setting "Field Width" that can be set to "Automatically
fit this field" or designate a given width, as necessary. IT is in the Server
Settings, Manage Views section.

Thanks Kahuna - Setting the width does make the space for the field bigger,
but it still only displays 50 characters of the task name.

Hi Stacey, you could create a formula for a text field = [name], however, it
wouldn't display too well in the My assigments view (and remember to roll the
formula down to assignment level). A better idea might be to create another
field called task details and display this next to the task name. This way
you preserve the formatting of project name/task name within the my
assingments view, and get the detail!
Can't think of a better way (though an alternative would be to use the Notes
field).

How about either using the WBS field or a field called Name2, and providing
supplemental information in that field? You could even rig a formula to
strip everything from the 51st character in the Name field and drop it in
Name2.

Kind of ugly, but would get the job done.
