way to verify time stamp?

Is there a way to verify when a forwarded message to you
had originally been sent? I suspect someone is mis-
representing themselves and simply typed new fields into
the "original message" time and date.

If not - is it possible (or at all likely) that someone
sent me two emails days ago and they never bounced back
and never made it to my inbox, while all other email
functions appear completely normal??

Thanks!

One way would be if you could have the original message forwarded to you as
an attachment. Then you could view the timestamps in the message header by
opening the attachment and selecting 'view -> message options -> Internet
headers'

Possible, but unlikely.
