WBS - doesn't number w/SubProjects

Hello...
We have a group here and each of us manages our own Project file. We are
using WBS numbers...not custom...just the ones that Project generates. The
problem we have is when we create a master project and insert each of these
sub-projects into the master project....when we do this, the WBS numbering
does not work anymore. The sub-projects will each have 1, 1.1, 1.2,
etc....and this does not match up to what ends up in the master project file.
Is there a way to correct or fix this problem? I tried the "renumber" menu
option...but that is always disabled...I cannot get the menu option to become
enabled.

Hi, as far as I can tell, you can't renumber WBS with a Master
project.....the only way I've been able to work around this issue is to go
into the individual project plans, create a custom numbering sequence for
each project (e.g. Project 1 would begin with "1.", Project 2 with "2."
etc). This way, when you roll them up into the Master plan, each sub-project
will have unique WBS numbers.

Maybe someone out there has another solution?

Thanks for the work around. Seems like it will work for us. It would be
nicer if there were a more "elegant" solution...but I think that I will use
this approach.
