Sort by WBS?

We are developing standardized templates of project task groups. The
idea is that a client may want A, C, E but not B & D. The challenge is
that the tasks are not independently worked when inserted into a
project. That is some tasks in each group fall into Initiating,
Design, Production, Quality. When inserted into a project we want them
to order correctly.

My thought is to build a project with all options and set the WBS =
Outline Code. Then make the template items WBS match that. When
laying out a project with some items but not all, we can copy paste
into Project and then sort by WBS and they "should" align correctly.

I haven't yet found the action in Project to sort (and renumber items
to the result). I tried pasting it into Excel to sort but Excel puts
1.1.20 below 1.1.2, not below 1.1.19.

So... How do I sort by WBS?????

Many many thanks!!

OK, I'm only blind - not stupid, really! I finally right clicked on the
column header and there it was.

Upgrade suggestion.... put help for us who really need it. Pretend you
don't know how to sort and search "Help" for items on "sort".... sigh

Well, not so fast... looks like Project sorts subtasks within the
parent, so I'll have to make all tasks the same level sort then indent.
Still beats making every project from scratch.

Stop before doing something useless!
Project Menu, Sort, Sort by... uncheck "Keep Outline Structure".
That may help

Gosh you're smart! I did what you said and it worked like I thought it
should. Thank's a lot, and until the next crisis, OldLincoln is off
and running.
