WBS Numbering

I have renumbered a sub-project which contains external links. The numbering
function seems to include the external links which I don't want.

i.e.....

4.1.6 project task
4.1.7 project task
........ (external link)
4.1.9 project task - should be 4.1.8
........ (external link)
4.1.11 project task - should be 4.1.9

How do I stop this from happening? Thanks.
