Does a user of web access need a client licence of MS
project on their desktop? Can all function in Web access
be performed if MS project is not installed?

Thanks!

A user of web access will need a Microsoft Project Server
Client Access License (CAL) which can access project
information with having Microsoft Project Standard or
Professional installed on their computer. The functions
allowed in Web Access is not the same as the functions
you can use in MS Project software. Web access allows
you to view/analyze/model projects, view/analyze/model
resources and their assignments. All editing to a
project plan is still performed through MS Project.

Hope that answers your question.

Can someone use Web Access without MS proj installed on
their machine? It seems that you are saying it is
required?

What editing functions does a Web access user have through
the browser?

Thanks!

No. Project is not required on the desktop to use PWA.

There are virtually NO editing features for project deatails in PWA
aside from the ability to entter status information via a timesheet
like interface. Resources may also be allowed to propose new tasks if
the feature is enabled by the admin.

For the schedule editing like you have in Project you still need
project.

John:

There is no software to install for Project Web Access other than a couple
of ActiveX objects that get pushed to the client when first connecting. To
use Project Web Access legally, you must license your users who are not
licensed with Project Pro, with a Client Access License or CAL. You must
purchase these to cover all of your users or machines.
