web access - ms project server 2003 - create tasks - units avail

Our company is using ms Project Server 2003...when a resource adds a task, is
it possible for them to include % available (unit available)? It always
takes the % from the resouce sheet which is generally right but not on all
tasks. Also, when filling out the timesheet, can the resource change the
start date of the task. I'd like them to be able to do both...thanks.

No, the resource cannot specify the Units value, and there is no way to
enable this. Team members can change the Actual Start or Actual Finish date
of a task, but only if the Project Server administrator adds those two
columns to the View My Tasks page. Otherwise, they cannot change the
scheduled Start or Finish date. Refer to the following FAQ for how to add
the Actual Start and Actual Finish columns for tracking purposes:

Hope this helps.

Howard...I went to add the start field and noticed that it was already there.
However, the field was greyed out on the timesheet entry view and I could
not change it. I am the administrator and tried to remove and re add the
field through web access...admin...views...and noticed that I could not
remove the field. In the publish fields in MS Project Professional, it is
not one of the fields that can be added so I can't check off the box that
says the user can change the value. It appears to be a field that is in the
default timesheet view and the characateristics (ie...user changeable or not)
cannot be changed.

Have I missed something? Is there a place to allow this field to be
entered? (Note: I have other tasks that have been published and have fields
where values can be entered...but the start field is still greyed out)

Hope to hear from you...thanks.

Howard...just noticed that you put Actual Start...not Start...ok...I can add
that field...just coudn't modify the Start field. So, ignore my previous
message...thanks.
