Web background removal

When copy/pasting from web to Word, the web background color will not remove.
Have tried Office help to change/remove shading, backgrounds, watermarks.
Nothing works except to remove all formatting, but I don't want to remove ALL
formatting, just the background color. Can anyone help?

Ctrl+Q should do it, but if you don't want to risk that, have you tried
Format | Borders and Shading (Shading tab)?

Suzanne,
No, Format | Borders and Shading (Shading tab) doesn't do it either - So,
while it didn't solve my problem directly, it got me on the right track.
Thanks!

When pasting from the web into a Word document (at least the application I'm
interested in, which is just copying text), using ALT+SHIFT+F10 brings up
another drop-down menu where I can choose to "match destination formatting"
and the background color goes away. Then I can add whatever style I wish
after that. This feature is also available from a little "clipboard" box at
the end of what I pasted, which produces a drop-down menu of paste options
when you click on it. Wonder why I never saw that before! Thanks again!
