Web Design Portfolio

Corrie

In my business site I have a page that lists all the other sites I've
designed for clients. I've seen other sites that have a little thumbnail of
the actual website and I'm wondering how to do this. How do I insert a
picture of an actual site? I'm very familar with inserting pictures but
can't seem to figure this one out. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Corrie

Corrie,

It sounds like your referring to screenshots, which I as well as many other
developers use to feature portfolios.

There are programs out there that will capture a page, but you don't really
need one if you have a graphics program.

1- Go to the site you want to capture

2- Press your Print Screen key on the keyboard then Ctrl+C

3- Open your graphics program and then Ctrl+V (Or Paste)

NOTE: This method will only take a screen shot of what appears in the
Monitor, so if your pages are long scrolling, you will only get a portion of
the page, so you could increase your resolution if needed.

Get the site up in your browser and do a screen capture (the PrintScreen key
on your keyboard). Open the image in your image editing software program and
take it from there ... crop, resize and optimize.

then Ctrl+C

Isn't necessary

All it takes is Print Screen

If your page is longer than you have room for on the screen and you want to
show the full page you will need to either use an image editor to piece the
screenshots together or get a program like SnagIt from techsmith that will
capture a scrolling window. That's what I use for my screenshots and
tutorials.

Thank you so much Cheryl! I went to the online training site that you listed
and am very interested. I saw that you are teaching FrontPage level 2 course
and it starts in October. How often will this class be offered? October
doesn't work for me but I NEED this class. I have pretty much all of the
basics down but want to learn more advanced skills in Frontpage.
Thanks so much!
