Web links in Word don't work! Why not?

P

Pollock

I posted this message back in November, and was a little surprised
that I didn't get ANY response at all. Is it REALLY true that no-one
else has experienced this problem?

When I place a web link in a Word document, e.g., a link to
http://support.microsoft.com, and then click on the link, I get the
error message: "Unable to open http://support.microsoft.com. Cannot
locate the internet server or proxy server."

Why is this? How can I cure it? My network and internet connection
are otherwise working fine! And this function used to work. When,
exactly, it ceased functioning I can't pin down, however.

This error message occurs whether or not my Sygate Personal Firewall
is switched on. I have a home network with four PCs linked to a
Linksys NAT router. Each computer runs Windows 2000 Pro protected by
Sygate Personal Firewall, Norton Anti-Virus Professional Edition,
Ad-Watch and Ad-Aware.

Why is my Word not supporting internet linking? This is a major
function, and it is giving me A LOT OF PROBLEMS! Help!
