Web page file sized in FrontPage

When I create a page and save it it shows about 185 KB.
MUCH too large. The icon shows up as a 'front page'
file. When I save a picture from the web or web site the
icon shows as a Internet Explorer file. The sizes of the
IE files are much smaller yet seems to have the same
amount of pictures and links on it that I have.

Also, It doesn't seem to matter whether I insert a
picture from Photoshop at 30 MB or Optimized for the web
at around 28 KB. The resultant size of the saved page in
FrontPage seems to be basically unchanged.

I am confused!!! Does publishing the page onto the web
change the size of the file?

The saved file size will not include the images
- they are separate files linked to the page
