web site cannot only be accessed through a pasword

When creating a virtual directory for a web site the site will only display
with a log on and password. Are there certain settings that need to be
changed or checked that are preventing the site from being displayed to the
public?

Need to provide the <IUSER_Machinename> account with access permissions on
the server.

This depends on security settings on the Web server. If it's a Microsoft Web
server with the FrontPage Server Extensions installed:

1. Open the root web in FrontPage.
2. Choose Server from the Tools menu, and then Permissions.
3. Click Change Anonymous Access Settings.
4. Set Anonymous Access Is to On.
5. Click Submit.

You can also configure this setting from Administrative Tools,
Internet Information Services, or from whatever administrative
console your Web server provides.

True, unless the virtual path and the physical path are equal.
