Web Site Templates

Mary

I am trying to use the "Personal Web" template that is a
default Web Site Template on FrontPage 2002. It loads
fine until I try to open the index.htm file inside
FrontPage. The error message I get is "System exception:
access violation." I can't find anything related to this
on the MS Knowledgebase. I have tried to do this on two
WinXP computers and get the same result, but when I tried
it on a Win 98 computer and it worked fine. If anyone can
shed light on this, please do. Thanks, Mary

Mike,
Thanks for your reply, but I fixed it, although I'm not
sure why, I have a theory. I had originally installed MS
Office XP Pro and had applied both service patches. Then,
months later, I installed FrontPage 2002(yes, legally)
but not part of the original XP Pro disk. My theory is
that even though I had applied the service patches, and
it said so on the 'About FrontPage" screen, that maybe it
didn't really get applied to FrontPage, so I reapplied
them. That fixed the problem. I think that had FP been
installed at the same time as the entire XP Pro suite was
installed and then had the service patches applied, I
never would have had the problem. That's the only
explanation I have. It's working fine now and has been
since I reapplied SP-1 and SP-2. Does that make any sense?

Hi Mary,

Have you tried doing a Help | Detect & Repair in FP?

You must always reinstall any patches if you later install a application
that wasn't installed at the time the patch was applied or do a re-install.
