Web Site Wizard Aborts

After completing one web site successfully, I installed the MS Office
security updates. Since then when I start a web site wizard to embark
on a new site, it flashes a page then immediately aborts with this
diagnostic: "MS Publisher cannot complete the operation".

What can I do?

Sorry an addendum:
1. The diagnostic is really "Publisher cannot complete the operation"
(i.e., no "MS").
2. I'm running MS Publisher 2000.
