web storage system password

I have been developing a website using FrontPage 2003 with no difficulties.
This morning I tried to save a page and a pop-up suddenly appeared
requesting: Enter Web Storage System Username/Password/Domain. I have tried
many combinations but cannot get acccess. This is the first time I have seen
this and cannot save any files to my site directory. I was wondering why this
should suddenly appear and if there is a solution to this?

Hello Jens!

Thanks for the quick response. Unfortunately, this does not help me - the
problem is saving changes to my HDD, even if I am not connected to the net -
it asks for a web storage system password to save to this directory on my
hard drive. If I create a new directory - it still asks me for the same
info. The frustrating part of all this is that yesterday I was able to save
work to the directory, and to my knowledge I have changed no settings (had
not even heard to the web storage system), but today I am unable to save any
work to my hard drive.

Any help in resolving this would be most appreciated.

Thanks again.

Did you install any applications or updates?

Have you check your system for virus/spyware, etc.?

I did install two pieces of software - a client update for Norton AV
professional and Nero Express upgrade. That is about it. Thanks for the tip
about spyware - I did have some, but removing it did not change the
stituation.

I have now solved the problem though, by uninstalling the Microsoft Web
Storage Forms Extensions from my system (add/ remove programs) - it has
solved the problem, but I sure would like to know why it suddenly 'activated'
and prevented me from saving any work.

Thank you for your help in this matter!
