webbot bot="Include" get stripped out during publishing

D

Debbie

We have a website in which we publish to a "staging"
server that is run on Windows 2000. Everything looks fine
at this point. However, when we go to publish to the live
site from the staging server the webbot includes are
getting "stripped out". The live site server is running
Windows 2003. Is this a known problem? And if so what is
the fix. Or, is there something else we need to do/know on
the server set-up. Please let me know if you need further
information. I am not the website administrator, but can
get the information.

Thanks in advance,
Debbie

What do you mean by getting "stripped out" are you not seeing the content in the pages when viewed
from a browser, or are you just not seeing the webbot tags in the document in FP?

Which versions of FP is being use to create the site and publish to the staging server, and then
which version of FP is being use to publish from the staging server to live server?

What I mean by getting "stripped out" is that once the
page is published I cannot see the webbot and the content
of the webbot is not placed within the code. I can see the
webbot tag in the document on the staging server in FP.

The site is created in FP 2003. And, we are using FP 2003
to publish to staging server and from the staging server
to the live server. Also, each server has frontpage server
extensions, and they're running version "2002".

I hope this information helps, thanks,
Debbie

By any chance, has someone run the Optimize HTML command, which removes all FP webbot tags.

Make sure you have not selected any of the Optimize Html options on the Publishing Setup or in the Remote Web site View (Optimize

- it will strip all webbots if incorrectly selected

I checked this before. No options are selected
under "Optimize html". And, I just republished
and "stripping" is still happening.

The answer is nothing is selected under Optimize html. I
just responded to the other poster. I don't know if this
helps but here is what the code looks like in the staging
server (correct display):

<TD width=566 height=24 valign="top">

Debbie,

Normally you should only see the following statement in HTML/Code View:

<!--webbot bot="Include" U-Include="../../common/Templates/fragments/main_buttons.htm"
TAG="BODY" -->

You should not see the actual content of the include until the page is displayed in the browser.

yes, that is what I see in Code View. The html I included
below is from "View Source" from the browser.

Is it possible if the included webbot file
says "Unmatched" in FP remote website view under status
that this will happen? This is my suspicion, that the
webbot include file just needs to be republished or
matched. I currently don't have rights to do this, or else
I'd try. If this is the case I can let my website
administrator know.

When doing a view source in the browser, you should see the actual content that was included from
the include file.

Sound like the current include file is not being published, if it is being displayed as unmatched.
