Webpage is stuck on the left side of the screen in preview:-(

I have created a single page very straightforward webpage in both Microsoft
Office Publisher and Frontpage 2003, using a blank page and templates
respectively, but in both cases the page is 'stuck' on the left side of the
screen in preview and browser preview. Everything else ok.
I want to see my webpage centred, in the middle and nothing seems to work.
Tried to select all and nudge to the right, which helps a bit, but surely in
can't be right that I nudge all the contents beyond the set design?
In the bottom left corner the 'move page' option is pale and hence doesn't
work.

The fix to center pages using publisher 2000 and 2002
Publish to your hard drive
Edit the htm file(s) with notepad, wordpad or any other text editor and
replace <head> with

<head><center>

The fix to center pages using publisher 2003 and 2007
Publish to your hard drive
Edit the htm file(s) and replace </head> with

</head><table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="2"
width="760"align="center"><tr><td>

" All above on one line "

Be sure that you edir the </head> line and NOT the <head> line

If you are using a page width different than 760 pixels change that number
in the above line

If you have multiple pages you might want to look at
http://www.emurasoft.com/replall/ a simple replace lines in multiple htm
files

Then ftp the files to your ISP

FrontPage is probably your better choice for producing your website. I would
suggest that you post your question in the FP group to learn how to center
FP pages.

If you want to use Publisher then you might want to read: Reference:
Understanding background padding in a Publisher web (aka white space):
http://msmvps.com/blogs/dbartosik/archive/2006/01/07/80563.aspx

However, you can edit the html code in a Pub web as per the code provided by
Spike. If you need more detailed instructions, post back.

If you have mixed FrontPage code and Publisher code together in the same
site...it isn't "straightforward" any longer.

Hello Gigi,

I ran into the same thing, look great while building the page, went to web
page preview and everything was loaded to the left side.

I have found a way to fudge it. Look at www.nehealingrooms.org , seems
pretty centered to me.

I simply build the page about a third of the way away from the margin. Takes
alittle trial and error. If you are using a header banner, start there, pay
attention to the marker settings at the top of the frame. Once the banner is
in place do a web page preview. If it is off, close your browser and go back
and move it. Once you are happy with the position, line every thing else up
off the banner.

B Greg,

Spike offers a better way to center a webpage. Look at his message above
your message.

BTW, when I visit your site it is left justified. My display is 1680x1050

Spike's method will center the site no matter what the visitor's display is
set at.

Don,

Did you scroll to the right hand side or bottom of the page? Strange and
very strange...

Oye that site is tweaked.

Looks ok in IE7
In FF3 all I see is the tiled background image...no text or menu or graphics
In Chrome I see the text on yellow bg...so no bg image, no menu, no
graphics.

VML sux.

'Didn't have a bottom scroll bar until I narrowed the display and then no
vertical lines.
