Webpage with Publisher

Not sure if this is the best place to ask the question, but here goes. It
may seem like a dumb question. I want to create a website using Publisher.
I have the basic ideas and layout done. I am about to sign for a web hosting
service but have not decided which one as of yet. When the website is
published to the web how do the search engines pick up that there is a new
site out there? A friend recently published their first site. If I type in
the web address it goes to the site. But if I use a search engine, i.e.
google, yahoo, msn, it does not bring up the page. How do you get your site
recognized by the search engines?

Thanks

Hi Bandit,

First of all you could let Google know you have a website by registering
with them http://www.google.com/addurl/?continue=/addurl I think you will
find Yahoo, MSN etc., have similar...just Google for them.
You could also add your URL to free sites like these, www.addme.com and
www.addpro.com again, just Google for more.

You also need good content on your pages, good key words and good links into
your site. But it can take a long time to get noticed!
Post your URL here and others may have more suggestions.
