WebUpdate to 2002SP3 destroys all...

After updating Outlook 2002 to SP3, it seems like it has
overwritten all my customizations: calendar, addressbook,
formatting, and e-mail folders with contents. It's hard
to believe the web update would overwrite the above
settings with no warning, but that's what appears to have
happened. Can someone offer insight? I'm dead in the
water at the moment. Thanks, John

Appearances can be deceiving. Search your hard drive for *.pst, including
hidden files and folders. I'll wager your old PST is still there.

Thaks Brian - you're right it's there along with the other
few users' in their appropriate \local
settings\application date\microsoft\outlook directories,
but outlook doesn't seem to be picking it up on
execution. Also, they have no filename extensions (.pst) -
just "outlook". How can I get outlook to read these?

If you want to see the file type, enable that option (In Windows Explorer:
Tools>Folder Options>View>uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types").
To open a PST in Outlook, click File>Open>Outlook Data File, browse to the
PST, select it, and click OK. You can then either move (or copy) items from
the newly opened PST or make the newly opened PST your default delivery
location.
