Weird Auto-Zoom?

I have 2007. When I'm zoomed in to "Page Width" (about 246%) and start
typing in a table, and I hit space, the page zooms to "Whole Page." I've
tried many things, including searching help, predictably to no avail. If I
click the "Page Width" button it goes back, but reverts to "Whole Page" at
the next space.

Is there a magic solution somewhere, or is this a "no extra cost" feature?
