Weird values on resource useage

Anita

I have a proejct that starts on 22nd March and have set Friday as short day
throughout the project starting from April only (friday is a 5 hour day
instead of 7). I would expect project to schedule an 8 hour day for the
first Friday in the project for a task scheduled on that day with one
resource assigned but instead it is putting in 5 hours and then the remaining
3 on the Monday even thought that Friday isn't a short day - help! Also later
on it is then scheduling weird stuff like 7 hours one day and a remaining 1
hour the next instead of 8 hours on one day - I've looked at how the tasks
are linked but can't work it out - default task type is fixed duration.

Thanks, Anita

Sounds like you may have messed up when configuring the calendars? Check
the Friday in question in the Project, Task, and relevant Resource calendars
to see if they might have been set that way in error.

Assign the Task a Standard Calendar in the Task Calendar field, and set it
to Ignore Resource Calendars. If that's the case, then the issue is likely
with how you have the Resource calendars set up.

Hi Anita,

I recommend you first read
http://www.mvps.org/project/faqs.htm
Faq 5: Default Working hours.
That should solve part of your worries.
As for the 5 hour first Friday my impression is that it IS a 5 hrs working
day, either on the ProjectClendar or on the Resource Calendar.
OBTW, task type has no relation to this problem.
