Weird

Q

Quizzed again

Hello there, here is a weird one. I have project server 2007, Dec CU, SQL
Server 2005 SP3 CU#6. Clients patched to Dec CU.

While online I copy enterprise custom field values and paste into
non-enterprise fields.
I open the file while disconnected from project server and the enterprise
fields have strange values.

While online I copy non-enterprise custom field values and paste them into
enterprise custom fields.
I open the file while disconnected from project server and the enterprise
fields have strange values.

This happens only to the fields that have lookup tables.
The strange values appear to be a mix of scrambled lookup tables.

How do I fix this mess?

That sounds almost like a local cache issue. Can you please clear you cache
and check if the values still display incorrectly please
Thanks

Hello Marc. I have cleared the local cache and also deleted the cache folder,
the 12 folder and the 11 folder. It happens on all computers - not just mine.

Other suggestions? Anyone else try this and get similar results?

Quizzed:

First of all, are you certain that you don't have anyone using the Project
Client with Service Pack 2 only? This sure sounds like a bug that was
corrected.

If you are absolutely certain of the above fact, then can you describe
exactly what you're doing to cause the problem. Your description isn't
enough to reproduce.

Hello Gary, thanks for chiming in.
No, everyone has provided me screen shots of their SW after installing the
Dec CU. I disabled all access until I saw those pictures of their versions
(from the About menu).

My problem has been narrowed down to this:
Any field that has a drop-down list will display the proper value while the
file is in MOPS. Any file saved offline and opened in MSP2007 Pro offline
will display random values in the fields that (when online) had drop-down
lists. By random I mean that the CAM field, offline will have values that
came from the Location, Manager, and IPT fields (all of those had drop-down
lists). Like the drop-down lists got scrambled.
This happens on all fields that had look-up tables, all users, all instances
in my MOPS system.
Ideas?

When you say "save offline" do you mean using the Save Offline feature of
Project Server, or do you meaning using "Save As" to an mpp file?

Hello Gary, I mean to use the Save As.. > Save as file > to a folder on my
C: drive.

I uninstalled and reinstalled MSP Server on one of my servers and had the
same problem so I think there is something wrong with the client SW. Gave a
file to a consultant and he could open it and did not see the weirdness in
the fields that once had lookup tables. Your thoughts?

It really does sound like a local cache issue as Andrew and Marc posed. How
about trying to run a repair on your Project Client installation? Have you
tried that?
