I read the message between "Anna" and Beth Melton concerning the Compile Error Message. My error is found in Word only. I went to the Tools/Options/File Locations, but now what? I do not see anything resembling WinFax and the stratup file is empty.

I loaded a version of WinFax, but elected to remove it (Via Add/Remove in Control Panel).

So how do I get rid of this messy little pop-up error box?

Hi Dave,

To verify if you are using the WinFax add-in take a look under Tools/Templates and Add-ins.

If you it then first check the Office Startup folder, located in the Office installation path, first. IIRC that's where the WinFax template is placed.

Beth,

Thank you for getting back to me.

I checked Tools/Templets and Add-in and found "wfword2K.dot with a check box. I am assuming this is the WinFax program.

It also appears that I am unable to "Remove" this from the list. If I uncheck the box, should I be able to get rid of the error message?

Hi Dave,

Disabling it will not prevent it from loading the next time Word
starts. You need to exit Word, locate it in the Startup folder and
move it out of the folder to prevent it from loading.

I'm fairly certain wfword2K.dot is placed in the Office\Startup folder
which is located in the Office installation path. You can also use
Windows Search to locate it.

Beth,

Now I am confused. I did a systems search for wfword2k.dot and found nothing. I looked in the folder you suggested and found nothing. Any ohter suggestions?

Hi Dave,

The add-in is there somewhere otherwise it wouldn't load when Word
starts. Try going back to Tools/Templates and Add-ins, select the
add-in and note the path at the bottom. More than likely you will not
see the full path but it may give you a hint as to where to look.

It could also be a hidden file so make sure you have your hidden files
turned on and if using Windows XP and are using Search, make sure you
go to "More advanced options" and Search hidden files or folders is
enabled.

Yeeeaaaa! Found it. By expanding the window for the Template/Add-ins I was able to find the full path to the WinFax template. You must close Word before deleting and then it is a simple operation.

I restarted tha computer, started Word and not error message.

Thanks for your help Beth.
