What are pop3, smtp, & imap email accounts

I'm trying to set up an email account using microsoft outlook 2003. When I'm
prompted to answer pop3 email account, & incoming pop3 server, smtp outgoing
server, I don't have a clue what these are. Please can anyone explain?

Its different for every ISP, contact your ISP, and they will give you the
proper information, note that quite a few ISP's nowadays only support webmail
(mainly the cheap dial up ones)
