What can I use to imposition my publisher doc?

I have a 60 page booklet I need to have printed and I have a very small
budget. My printer has asked if I can "imposition" the pages in publisher.
I have checked the web and the only advice I found was to use third party
software. I am looking for advice on which third party package to use.

Look for a different printer to use or print each page as a separate pdf.

By Imposition most printers mean pairing the letter pages in "printers
pairs" but there are potential major issues in a 60 page book.

The standard plan would be to put pp 60 and 1 on the same tabloid film(and
2-59, 58-3, etc always the odd# on the left, even on the right, total of
page count +1 (59+2=61 which is one more than the page count).

But this may not be how your printer plans to print and bind the thing. If
it is going to be bound saddle stitch that might work (leave larger margins
on the page, 1/2" minimum, 5/8 better). If it is going to be mechanically
bound (plastic or metal "combs) then that might still work. If it is to be
"Perfect Bound" that will NOT work. So you MUST ask.

As for the actual imposiiton, Publisher has a rudimentary ability but the
doc has to be in one file and you'll need to make the setup for booklet.
Investigate the options and tinker (that learning is worth 10000X a
newsgroup answer delivered a a couple days later!).

That should work.

If it does not, and your boss won't let you spend the learning time, let me
know I can do it for you working from your pack-and-go file. you can contact
me off line at "mac at adcomgraphics dot com". We'll even talk to the
printer for you! Please copy this message so i can remember the issue.
<thanks!)

ERROR ERROR ERROR DANGER WILL ROBINSON

clearly I SHOULD have said "always the even # on the left, odd on the
right" per example given.
