Am running XP and Outlook 2007 with BCM on a machine with 4GB memory and four
500GB HDs.
I have 2 .pst files open. One is about 500MB and the other is about 300MB.
Each .pst has about 2,000 folders. There are no problems at all if I do not
attempt to open a BCM database. Again, Outlook works fine without BCM.
As soon as I create a new BCM database, Outlook gives me out of memory errors.
Troubleshooting so far:
1. Re-formatted hard drive and re-installed XP.
2. Downloaded and installed all current hardware drivers.
3. Downloaded and installed all MS patches/updates.
4. Re-installed Office 2007 Pro.
5. Downloaded and installed all MS patches/updates.
(there is not much else loaded on this machine after the re-format of HD--so
this is a very very clean environment).
6. Open Outlook and add my 2 .pst files. All is well.
7. Add a new BCM database. Immediately get errors complaining about memory.
8. Remove BCM database. Outlook is back to working fine.
9. Close Outlook
10. Download and install SQL Server Management Studio Express and set max
server memory to 512 MB.
11. Re-open Outlook with my 2 pst files. All is well.
12. Attempt to add a new BCM database. Memory errors.
13. Remove BCM database.
14. Close Outlook.
15. Use Scanpst to repair both .pst files.
16. Re-open Outlook with my 2 pst files. All is well.
17. Attempt to add a new BCM database. Memory errors.
18. Remove BCM database.
19. Close Outlook.
20. Compact both .pst files.
21. Re-open Outlook with my 2 pst files. All is well.
22. Attempt to add a new BCM database. Memory errors.
23. Remove BCM database.
24. Close Outlook.
I am stumped. Not even sure what else to try.
How many .pst files can be open when BCM is used?
How many folders can each .pst file have when BCM is used?
I know that Outlook will now support 20GB .pst files, but if BCM is used,
how small do .pst files need to be?
I am so frustrated at this point. Kinda feel like I should have titled my
post, "Can somebody recommend a Contact Management program that actually
works?"
