what causes the recently used file list option to be unavailable .

Hi!

Some anti-spyware programs and some types of utility programs have options
to disable the MRU history.

Check to see if you may have any of those types of programs which may be
causing your problem.

Nick - it's Excel 2002 (a.k.a. XP) - as per other posts the problem was in
the TweakUI option

Biff thanks for the suggestion - as per other posts, the problem was in a
TweakUI option setting.
