Version of Word?

How are you selecting checkbox field options? This is a dialog box. How do
you get to the dialog box? What happens then? When does Word hang?

It is Office 2000 SR-1 Standard on an XP SP2 machine. I am getting the error
on a form for a transmittal when I bring up the Form Field Options Window by
double clicking on a check box in the form. I have used another computer and
had not trouble although it was an XP SP1 machine. I have unistalled and
reinstalled and completed every update possible with the same result, the
problem still returns.

Do you have any Add-Ins installed for working with forms. I'm asking because
I had one (that I designed) that worked in Word 2002, 2003 but crashed Word
97 when I would try to get to field properties. What happens if you instead
right-click on the checkbox and call up properties? (I don't have a
solution, I'm just fishing for things that might help someone else diagnose
your problem.)

No I don't have any add-ins installed on this machine. I tried right
clicking instead of double clicking and I got the same results. Word hangs
for a minute or two and then shuts its set down. The error report was of
course useless.

Error reporting is not to provide help to you but to let Microsoft know of
problems with its products and their interaction with other software /
hardware.

How do you know you have no add-ins installed?

This sounds like an error that occurred in Office 97 and was corrected
in a patch. There are some differences, such as the error would occur
immediately, but it could be caused by the same issue.

Check to see if you have two macros named the same in the same scope.
For example in Module1 you have Sub Main() and in Module2 you have Sub
Main().

If you find this to be the case then rename one of the macros and see
if that resolves the issue.

Please post all follow-up questions to the newsgroup. Requests for
assistance by email can not be acknowledged.

Have you checked for Add-Ins, even if they are disabled?
