What character(s) is(are) used to preface comments in Access SQL?

I want to accomplish as simple task - adding comments in my sql so that it
is documented. Nowhere can I find this in the MS documentation or via a web
search. Thanks much!

Access DOES NOT support embedded comments in the SQL string.

You can in query design view use the description properties of the fields and
the query to do some documentation. And you can embed (as calculated fields)
text strings to use a comments. Yeah! That's really, really ugly and a
performance drag.
