got a general question concerning the menus in all MS
products. what's the logic used in categorizing the pull
down menu topics found in VIEW vs FORMAT vs INSERT? For
example, why is 'header footer' found in VIEW rather than
INSERT? If you want to add a header, you're inserting.
After many yrs of using MS products i and most people can
kinda predict where the desired command would be located.
But the options available in VIEW vs FORMAT vs INSERT
doesnt seem logical. What u think?

makes sense, see all clearly now, thanks.

Actually, the Header and Footer are already there. Because they are "blank"
they don't show anything. Check your Page Settings... you'll see settings
for H & F margins whether they have data or not. Therefore, you "View" them
and don't "Insert" them.

Probably a cross-over from Word where View>Headers and Footers means exactly
that.

You view them on the document.

I think there is usually logic in Excel, with some very gross
exceptions such as the 1900 and 1904 data systems, and
Ctrl+A in Excel 2003.
..
I think there is Less logic for the other products . <grin>.

As far as what you asked about, I believe you can change
headers in all of them through File, Page Setup
at least that is where I change them from in Excel.
