what does Fancy First Letter mean?

Fancy First Letter

Can anyone tell me what this means please. This is a question in my Desktop

I believe you can do a drop caps using 2 column table.
Just create a 2 column table, put the "T" on the first column, then the rest
of the text in the 2 column.
Increase the font size of "T".
Next, reduce the width of column 1 so that it fits nicely with "T".
Lastly, remove the border.
Will probably post a sample later.
