When logging into Project Server 2007, there is an option to "Load Summary
Resource". What is happening when this is option is checked and not checked.
What are the advantages and disadvantages for enabling and disabling this
option?

Checking this options loads the summary resource assignment details from all
projects (in project server) into Proj Pro.

The benefit of this is that by using the resource usage view you can see the
assignment information in other projects for the resources on you plan.

Try checking and unchecking the option and then viewing the resource usage
view, you'll soon see the difference.

Tip, create a blank project loaded with all your enterprise resources. Save
the project as a draft (not published) and you have a very quick way to see
which resources are overloaded for a given time period. (assuming you load
summary res assignments).

Also be aware that the summary resource information in 2007 does not always
show the correct data, I believe it is buggy.

Also, if you are using timesheets in 2007, there will be a line item added
for every timesheet a user creates for themselves. For example, if a user
created 30 timesheets over a 30 week period and does not change the default
name of the timesheets (which is "My Timesheet") then you will see for that
resource in the resource usage view at least 30 line items all referred to
as "My Timesheet" on top of all the line items for projects which they have
scheduled work on.
