what does micrsoft exchange sever mean

i recently installed microsoft office out look,
when i click on it a box appears,
asking for the exchange sever,and my mail box,
what does micrsoft sever mean?

Exchange is a email server. Unless you are using Outlook at work odds are
your not using a regular exchange set up. Try setting up a POP or IMAP
account instead.
