What does this tip do?

Okay, this is not really important, I'm just curious. I have the office
assistant of my choice set to give me the "tip of the day" every time I start
an office product. [Side question: If it is supposedly the "tip of the day"
why is it different every time I open the program? I can open Access five
times the same day, and it gives different tips. If it is giving me the "tip
of the day," shouldn't it be the same all day? ;-) ]

Sometimes, when I start Access, I get the following tip:

"Crown your favorite Microsoft Access database with a custom splash screen:
create a bitmap image, give it the same name as your database, and copy it to
your database's directory."

What the heck is this supposed to do? I tried this and apparently it didn't
work, because it didn't seem to do anything. By "...copy it to your databases
directory," don't they mean copy it into the same folder? If not, what do
they mean, how do I actually do this, and what does it do? Not an important
question, I'm just curious. Thanks if anybody can help.

If you have a database named fred.mdb, create a bitmap called fred.bmp, and
place it in the same folder.

Then create a shortcut to this database. When it opens you should see the
bitmap instead of the Access splash sceen.

You've got to be quick though: it's not there long on a fast machine.

Cool! Thanks. Wow! I wasn't expecting such a quick response. Anyway, that is
both cool and pointless at the same time. LOL. Neat little feature though. I
like that.

One of the worthwhile aspects of it is if you want to keep the normal
Microsoft Access splash screen from being displayed. And if you want no
(visible) splash screen, you can use a one-pixel bitmap. I believe you
can control how long the splash screen is displayed by tweaking a
registry setting, but I don't remember clearly.

Hey, you know something? You make a good point. I didn't think of that. That
is a nifty, useful trick after all. Thanks for the help.
