What happened to Control-shift-F9 to convert objects to pictures?

In word 2003 Control-shift-F9 could be used to convert an inserted object
into a picture to reduce the file size. I can't find a similar command in
2007.

Does Ctrl+Shift+F9 not still work?

My apologies, it does still work. I panicked when I told someone else how to
do this and they reported it didn't work and then checking my Function Key
Assignments cheat sheet it said something about converting a field to regular
text and it seemed that MS had changed something. Of course it would have
been really helpful if MS could have mentioned that function when I searched
for "converting objects to pictures." Oh well, enough whining, sorry for
taking your time.

Ctrl+Shift+F9 has always converted fields to Text or, in the case of a
linked object, it has always removed the link to the data source which you
have interpreted as converting a object that was a linked picture to a
picture.

If you Press Alt+F9 before you use Ctrl+Shift+F9, you will see a field
something like { LINK .... }

Hope this helps.

It also depends on how the picture is inserted. If you're working in
compatibility mode and insert the picture as a link, Ctrl+Shift+F9 will work
as advertised since it creates an IncludePicture field.. If you're working
in a Word 2007 document, however, the method has changed, and you do not get
a field code when you choose link if you're going through the Insert -
Picture command. You get something else for which Ctrl+Shift+F9 does not
work (when you press the combo, you'll get a Ding, instead). It's possible
that the OP's friend was using .docx format.

You can still use the IncludePicture field in .docx formatted documents, but
you either need to do it manually or use the Insert...Field method.
